HOW TO READ THE MAPS

 

There are two latilong maps for each species of birds, one showing breeding distribution  and one showing winter distribution.

B   =  Breeding confirmed

b   =  Breeding circumstantial evidence

t    =  Transient, no evidence of breeding

 

W  =  Overwintering - winter records for December, January, February of the same winter

w  =  Winter record - no evidence of overwintering

 

S  =  Specimen or photograph currently located

S =  Specimen or photograph not current located, but seen in the past by a competent ornithologist

N = Numerous records for the state, 20 or more

1,2,3  =  The number of records for the state in the database
