Comments on bird numbers and behavior :

(CC) "I have noticed in the last few years that the Pileated Woodpeckers (we have both the male and female around) and the Downy and Hairy Woodpeckers are always together. There are at leas one or two chickadees that feed at the same feeder, same time, with the nuthatches."

(JC) "The Common Redpoll will challenge the finches at the feeder."

(GS) "I saw a Townsend's Solitaire near the feeder and birdbath - seemed like t wanted to have a drink but was wary of the starling at the feeder. On the Jan. 21st I also had a small flock of robins - 20 or so - eating the last of the apples."
