Audubon Lake Wildlife Recreation Area

  • At Home Retail Store 201 East Neider Avenue Coeur d'Alene, ID, 83815 United States (map)

Travel with Coeur d’Alene Audubon to Reardan, WA to visit the Audubon Lake Wildlife Recreation Area. This area includes a variety of habitats, including an 80-acre lake, alkaline mudflats, grasslands, and channeled scablands, which attract a variety of birds. It is the headwaters of Crab Creek, a Columbia River tributary, and Deep Creek, a Spokane River tributary. It is an Audubon Important Bird Area nominee. This property was on the market for housing subdivision development until the Inland Northwest Land Trust and Spokane Audubon Society secured an option to purchase it. The Trust and Audubon, along with Ducks Unlimited, City of Reardan and Reardan Chamber of Commerce, are committed to cooperatively preserving and developing this unique ecosystem and wildlife-viewing site.

This field trip that will combine some walking and a lot of driving.

Meet at the At Home parking lot where carpools can be voluntarily arranged at your discretion. Bring lunch, water and a pair of binoculars if you have them. Dress for the weather. Please leave your dogs at home; if you are a new member, we will teach you how to approach birding habitats in the least disruptive way to enhance the bird-watching experience for all of our participants.

RSVP field trip leader Ted Smith at coeuraudubon@gmail.com.
