Highway Clean-up
Join us for the Coeur d’Alene Audubon chapter’s semi-annual Highway Clean-up on our designated section of U.S. 95’s “Adopt a Highway” program. Birds and other wildlife can be enticed to unsafe highway areas by shiny items and litter; in extreme cases, they may become entangled in discarded items when searching for food. Coeur d’Alene Audubon organizes this highway cleanup to contribute to a cleaner environment and create safer spaces for birds to forage, nest, and thrive. Our efforts are a simple but helpful way to improve a local habitat and instill community pride.
Crews generally work in teams of twos, and if 16 or so members participate, the work should be successfully completed in a couple of hours. Members who would like to participate will meet at the Mica Grange where they will be issued safety vests, bags, grippers, and assignments (and some treats).
Signup sheets for the cleanup will be available at the next chapter meeting on April 8, 2005 or you may RSVP with a call or text to Ellie Emm at 970-744-0104.

Dress in layers, wear footwear for varied terrain and bring plenty of water and snacks.
Bring binoculars if you happen to have them.
Contact us if you would like more details on an event to determine its physical suitability.
