Birding is fun!

You do not have to be a member to attend a chapter meeting.

Multi-day field trips require membership.

Always prepare for the weather, wear footwear for varied terrain and bring plenty of water and snacks.

Bring binoculars if you have them; here is a great guide to learn more about choosing them.

Contact us if you would like more details on an event to determine its physical suitability.

Our field trips are primarily suitable for ages 10 or older with some exceptions unless otherwise specified.

Please leave dogs at home. For new birders, we will teach you how to approach birding habitats in the least disruptive way to enhance the bird-watching experience for all.

Highway Clean-up

Highway Clean-up

Join us for the Coeur d’Alene Audubon chapter’s semi-annual Highway Clean-up on our designated section of U.S. 95’s “Adopt a Highway” program. Birds and other wildlife can be enticed to unsafe highway areas by shiny items and litter; in extreme cases, they may become entangled in discarded items when searching for food. Coeur d’Alene Audubon organizes this highway cleanup to contribute to a cleaner environment and create safer spaces for birds to forage, nest, and thrive. Our efforts are a simple but helpful way to improve a local habitat and instill community pride.

Crews generally work in teams of twos, and if 16 or so members participate, the work should be successfully completed in a couple of hours. Members who would like to participate will meet at the Mica Grange where they will be issued safety vests, bags, grippers, and assignments (and some treats).
