Each December, Coeur d’Alene Audubon members gather at this festive chapter meeting to organize our annual Christmas Bird Count. We also indulge in a cookie exchange—if you’d like to participate, simply bring two dozen cookies to share.

The Christmas Bird Count (CBC) is a citizen science tradition that began in 1900 in which volunteers across the Western Hemisphere participate in synchronized bird counts. An early conservation effort, it began on Christmas Day in 1900 as an alternative to competitive bird hunting and has become one of the world's longest-running community science projects. WINTER HAITUS

As per our tradition, Coeur d’Alene Audubon will not hold chapter meetings in January or February 2027, allowing our members to avoid winter travel during the season’s iciest conditions. We wish everyone a safe and enjoyable winter and look forward to gathering again when our meetings resume in March 2027.
