For a pretty fall walk, Round Lake State Park is hard to beat. Round Lake is a beautiful, forested park in the northern panhandle of Idaho that sits on the edge of a 58-acre glacial kettle pond. Lunch is planned at the Pack River Deli with outside seating along the river.

Meet at the At Home Super Store parking lot to coordinate carpooling and caravanning. An Idaho State Parks pass is required to avoid an entrance fee; many of us have a pass on our vehicle and can drive others. 

Target Birds: Flocks of Canada Geese; Osprey; Ducks; Bohemian Waxwing and American Pipit. Late warblers may be passing through as well as bluebirds. There is a resident moose, lots of beaver lodges, and bull frogs.

Access Considerations: We will walk the two-mile trail around the lake, on fairly level ground. Please bring your scopes and binoculars if you have them, and plan to spend most of your time stopping and observing. This is a longer drive for a day trip; please plan accordingly. As this trip develops, we may add some additional stops along the way to bird.
